Making an upcycled gathered dress
I love hunting in op shops (New Zealand's name for thrift stores) to find crafting supplies. Recently I picked up a great range of fabrics that had been donated to the op shop from a lady who had decided to downsize her fabric haul! Thank you very much!!!
In 2020, I had made a dress from repurposed clothing, second hand fabrics and offcuts. It was a bit of a mash up of two free patterns available from DIY Daisy and Makayla Creates.

I knew that I wanted to make another version of this dress as I've had so much wear out it. I rounded up my second hand fabric plus a pair of op shopped shorts that were damaged but I knew I could repurpose the fabric of. After much deliberation, I settled on this selection of fabrics for each tier of the dress.

Using the basic measurements from my previous dress I got to work and after what felt like hours gathering fabric I had a one of a kind dress made entirely from second hand fabrics. I love it so much and although it's winter here at the moment I just wear it with a turtle neck, stockings and doc boots, it's perfect!
